Stop At: Nitmiluk National Park, Katherine, Northern Territory Australia

Once you have boarded, your boat driver and Nitmiluk river guide will explain the ancient heritage of the landscape and its' significance to the Katherine region and the Jawoyn People. Between each gorge, there is a 500-meter walk which will require you to disembark the vessel before joining the boat in the next gorge. Those who choose not to do the walk can sit in provided shaded area. Those who choose to continue to the next gorge will have the opportunity to see ancient rock art between the first and second gorge during their walk.

Two Gorge Cruise (2-hour)

Discover the cultural significance of the first 2 gorges to the traditional landowners - the Jawoyn people. Enjoy a journey of discovery through the magnificent Nitmiluk Gorge.

Three Gorge Cruise (3-hour)

Prepare for a truly memorable experience as you travel through time and the 3 gorges of Nitmiluk Gorge. Marvel at the sheer rock face walls as the scenery becomes more striking as you head further into the Gorge. Freshen up with a swim and light refreshments before you return back to the Nitmiluk Boat Jetty.

Dawn Cruise (2-hour)

The colors of the early morning awaken as you emerge into the first gorge. See the mist rising above the smooth water’s surface, hear the wildlife stirring from the night and breathe the crisp clean air. This cruise will allow you to discover the unspoiled beauty of the morning - a truly memorable start to the day and a photographer’s dream.

    Absolutely breathtaking and moving experience. Wasn't sure what to expect but it was an unforgettable experience. To be such in a beautiful and natural spot and to dwell on those who lived in this area many thousands of years ago was great. An absolute must do. Thanks to our guide/skipper.

    A spectacular tour through the gorge led by our wonderful tour guide, Jamie. He was so genuine and knowledgeable and made the whole morning amazing! Thank you Jamie, and thank you to the Jawoyn peoples for maintaining such a beautiful landscape for us all to enjoy.

    A wonderful day seeing our beautiful country. Our guide was very friendly and informative. We went out on the 10am cruise and glad we did as it was quite hot. There was a short walk between Gorges 1 & 2 but nothing too exhausting. Overall very impressed and the scenery was breathtaking

    Gorgeous scenery. Our tour guide Matt was very entertaining and informative, and we throughly enjoyed our tour. We did the 2 gorge boat tour.

    The gorge cruise was spectacular and absolutely beautiful. Matt Symonds (our tour guide) was very knowledgeable of the area and made it that extra bit special with his storytelling. He also went out of his way to make it a memorable experience for my niece and nephew (pretending to drive the boat). They absolutely loved it, in fact we all did. Thank you to Matt for making it an extra special journey for us, and to Nitmiluk for its magnificent beauty. Highly recommend this experience to everyone!

    I have done this cruise on a number of occasions in the past, but this was the best ever. I'm delighted to see it being run by the Jawoyn people. Our tour guide had a wonderful way of presenting the geological and the Jawoyn views of the creation of the Gorge. Facilities have improved considerably without compromising the natural environment.     We did the dinner cruise and it was spectacular. Our guide, Jamie, was excellent. He shared lots of interesting facts and stories with some jokes thrown in. He gave us loads of time to experience the views as we moved through the gorges; so nice not to feel rushed. The dinner was fabulous. One of our party requested a vegetarian meal and was delighted with her options. Very well thought out dishes in terms of taste and presentation. Amazing given that the chef was working on the back of the boat in the dark part of the night. The gorges themselves are magnificent, historically and visually. Incredible colours and scenery, and the light changing as the sun went down made it even more special. Would recommend it as a must-do to anyone visiting the area.

    Great narration from the guides and a devine dip in the gorge at the end. I can't wait to do the canoes next time.

    We loved this cruise! Spectacular scenery, fantastic guide (thanks Matt!) We did the 2 gorge cruise at 11am and would love to have seen it at sunrise or sunset- next time! We had kids (9&12) that loved it too!
