Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Russell Falls, Mount Field National Park, Tasmania Australia

Mt. Field National Park offers a variety of walks in Tasmania’s oldest National Park. Most famous for Russell Falls & the Tall Trees we explore the various walks and regions of this diverse area which is only a 1.5 hr drive from Hobart.

Russell Falls is easily Tasmania’s most recognisable waterfall with its 3-tiered drop. It is an easy and enjoyable walk along a beautiful track that takes us to this photogenic waterfall and beyond to Horseshoe Falls. We also make our way along the Tall Trees Track where high above us stand the giant Swamp Gums 80 metres tall. This is a series of short, spectacular walks amongst the cool and quiet rainforest, eucalypts, streams and local wildlife.

Further up into the National Park we join the Pandani Grove Trail which takes us around the alpine Lake Dobson. Soak up the wilderness and surrounding mountain air in this lesser visited region of the park. Lake Dobson is often covered in a layer of ice and surrounded with snow in the winter months – just gorgeous! The vegetation dates to Gondwanaland days giving this area an enchanting and ancient feel.

We enjoy a lunch break in one of the numerous beautiful settings at Mt. Field before continuing onwards for the day.

We visit Bonorong Wildlife Park which is home to many of our rescued and well-loved wildlife. Tassie Devils are close up; wallabies are freely hopping around the park and many more of our local favourites are easily discovered here.

To top off this very Tasmanian day we head to the summit of kunanyi /Mt. Wellington (1271m) Hobart’s iconic backdrop. The views from the top are breathtaking and the vista is expansive. This is a fantastic way to wrap up a day exploring many of Tassie’s most unique and noteworthy experiences, rainforests, waterfalls, wildlife and fabulous scenery.

We return you to your Hobart central city accommodation around 5.30 – 6.00pm.

This trip was cancelled due to cancellations to the covid lockdown in nsw and Victoria, it looks like a fab trip and will hopefully get to do it next time, I was offered this trip for another day but was already booked on different day trips

This was a great day out visiting some must-see sites. Our tour guide, Jeremy, was very knowledgeable and has so much passion for the history and flora of Mt Field. All his knowledge made the visit to Mt Field 10x better than it would have been if we chose to visit by ourselves. The visit to Bonorong was educational, and we were fortunate to have a beautiful and clear day at the top of Mt Wellington, for a view that shouldn't be missed. Highly recommend this tour.

3/5 would probably suggest a pretty average experience but I would have actually given it a lot higher if they had gone through with the Mt Wellington section of the tour that we paid for. Through no fault of their own the roads were closed and had been for days before our tour but we were only informed of it while we were on the bus. We do feel Tours Tasmania misrepresented this and could have called/emailed ahead and given us the option to pull out or reduced fee. Mt Nelson was a poor substitute at best. That being said, our guide David was exceptional and really saved the tour for us. He was friendly, knowledgeable and loved to talk about everything in his city. We thoroughly enjoyed his company and learning from him. Overall, we feel the company did a bit of a bait and switch on us but David did manage to salvage the day to an extent. I'd recommend checking all locations are available before registering a tour with these guys.

It was a great day. We started with Mount Field National Park, where we did some walks, saw the giant trees and some pademelons. A part of the track was closed due to fallen trees, so our guide took us to the raspberry farm (which I love!) to sort of compensate the shorter walk in the park. We then headed to the Bonorong Sanctuary where we got to see the devils, echidnas, some koalas, tawny frogmouths, amongst other animals and feed the kangaroos. After that we went to the summit of Kunanyi where we stayed for around 40 minutes because the weather was so nice, so we made the most of it. Our tour guide Nick was very nice, knew a lot about the places we visited and made the day a very enjoyable one.

An amazing tour with Nick. A young man who is so passionate about nature and conservation. Loved the walk at Mt Field and then onto Bonorong Wildlife Park. My first viewing of a Tasmanian Devil..a thrill. Mt Wellington was clear and sunny and we had wonderful views. Nice group. Thanks Nick

The whole trip was memorable from the guided walk in the unique National Park with the tall trees and gorgeous waterfalls. Seeing the amazing help the wildlife are receiving at Bonorong and being part of contributing to their existence. Mt Wellington was stunning and cold but shouldn’t be missed. Beautiful views overlooking Hobart; it’s breathtaking. Our tour operator Dave was honestly a walking encyclopaedia; so knowledgeable and kind and considerate whilst travelling throughout the day. What an amazing day we had!
